Two Day Workshop

DAY ONE

With a warm welcome and introduction Mark will guide you through the materials required. He will demonstrate using the tools to create different marks carved on the lino and how these will print on the paper, as well as how to use the sharp tools safely.

There will be time during the day to practice carving on a small test block before printing and Mark will help you explore and experiment with different mark making techniques and printing methods . After lunch there will be an opportunity to draw in the local surroundings to gather inspiration or bring your own ideas to work from. After this you will start to carve your main lino block design, with time to do a smaller test block.

DAY TWO

The workshop continues with working on carving your main lino block design. Followed by using a range of printing methods to create a series of your own prints to take home.

Mark will be on hand to guide and support you through the process of carving and printmaking.

LUNCH

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Mark Lord aka Lino Lord, is a professional photographer whose 25-year career behind the camera led to a passion for capturing the essence of the natural world, his heritage growing up on the Cornish coast and the people that look after their small corner of the world. In 2019 he set up a studio space at home and started carving lino blocks.

Mark finds that inspiring others to start their journey with printmaking is particularly a rewarding part of his own printmaking journey.
